As half of a couple that lives together, I can confidently tell you: not every night is date night. Some outsiders may think that all time spent together is like a date, but this is not true. There are certain moments where I feel extra special and one of those few times is when we go out and call it a date. We do go out for dinners often but, for whatever reason, these are not dates. The only difference between going out to dinner and a “date” is when we (or just me) call it a date. Other than that, there is no difference. These date nights don’t happen very often and I believe that’s why they are special.
Just this last week, Ryan and I had “date night”. We went to this German sausage place called Wurstkuche Restaurant (yelp). A couple months ago, Ryan’s friend Natalie took him there and when he came home, he told me all about it and how he was excited to take me there. There setup is kinda strange but it works for them. You order first, they give you a number and then find a seat in a cafeteria-like area (but nicer). Some short time later they serve the best sausage you will ever have. They look to have a huge variety of beer but Ryan and I don’t drink beer so we had to pass at being amazed in that aspect.
I’ve spent the last day or so redesigning the website (with Ryan’s help). I needed something simpler, with colors I love, and even easier to navigate. Here’s a peek of the old website for those that never saw it or don’t remember:
I am really excited about the new design and awesome new things to come!
And please feel free to tell me what you think!
I’ve talked a little bit about Alice when we first got her but for those who don’t know, Alice was about 8 months old when we adopted her from the animal shelter so she already formed her attitude and personality before we met her. Unfortunately for us, she was a feisty one. We don’t know much of her history or previous owners, only that she was left in a box in front of the shelter. Since then, we’ve loved her like crazy but she never really seemed fond of us. She likes to be near us at all times but she normally doesn’t cuddle or sit on our laps. We’ve had her for over a year now and I finally feel like she’s coming around more often. She’ll sit in a laps for a short period of time, or nudge us to pet her or, for a bit, she was sleeping on my pillow with me.
On the day I took these pictures (March 23rd), Ryan was ecstatic about her coming over and plopping down on him. Although it only lasted a minute and then she was gone.
Spring is here! In Los Angeles, Spring is the best because it’s warm and beautiful, and the flowers really open up to make everything look colorful and lush. As soon as get into Summer, I don’t notice any of these things because being outside is like torture. I go from our semi-cool apartment to the car where I blast the A/C on super-max-mighty coldest of colds and back.
The first week of April, my sister came down to visit to celebrate her 16th birthday, March 27th. She has grown up to be a beautiful girl but to be completely honest, we just don’t get along. I don’t if it’s the 11 year age gap or the opposite personalities but whatever it is, that’s a whole other story. We ran around and did a lot of things like had some amazing Thai food, checked out the Hollywood sign, shopped, watched lots of TV (what else do teenagers do?) and other random things. We also got together with our older brother, DJ, in Montana and did some web chatting. It was a long and exhausting week. From there, the rest of the month flew by…
