What Lifts You

I was inspired by this art piece found at the Avanti Food and Beverage here in Denver. It did not take me long to know with absolute certainty what lifts me — friendships.

Friends are family that choose to stick around. They don’t have to listen to my bullshit, or console me when my grandma died, or tell me for the 100th time that my brows look great. But they do. They are there every time I ask them to be, and vice versa. I feel strength in the vulnerability.

After we trade sad stories, disappointments, and hardships, that’s when the fun starts! We can move on from those negative things and have a great time. We can laugh and joke and feel great about ourselves and each other.

Spending time with friends makes me feel rejuvenated, and if it’s in a beautiful place or with delicious food and drinks — all the better!

Here are a few shots from vacations with friends recently…

I have mentioned Cameron’s work before and I’m massively excited to say that I am a recipient of his amazing work. For a short time, he was accepting commissions via his Etsy shop and I quickly jumped on the chance. Here are the results!

30 Days of Lists – If I Won the Lottery

30 Days of Lists

Day 23: If I Won the Lottery

  1. I would pay off my debt.
  2. I would buy my mom a house.
  3. I would buy my brother a house.
  4. I would buy myself a house.
  5. I would have my schooling fully paid for.
  6. I would create my dream space.
  7. I would eat at the most amazing (and expensive) restaurant and not worry about the check.
  8. Donate to a charity. Not sure which but I would research that.
  9. I would see family more by flying to see them and vice versa.
  10. I would travel to places I’ve never been.

Over the weekend, Ryan and I were taken to downtown Denver to walk around by some friends. We went to the the Tattered Cover book store where I bought my first high altitude cookbook. We also visited the I heart Denver store where they have an amazing variety by local artists. Ryan bought a cutest needle felting kit of an owl. I will let you know how it comes out.

Day 3: People I Love

  1. Ryan has been such a rock in my life. He gives me strength, makes my laugh, and supports me endlessly.
  2. My many, many family members. My parents, grandmothers, aunts, uncles, and my hundred cousins. I love them all. I have grown to love Ryan’s family as well. They are a welcoming and loving little bunch!
  3. I am lucky to have a small group of friends that have stuck with me through thick and thin. I am greatful to have them in my life.
  4. I can’t leave out my pretty cat, Alice. She is the cutest, sassiest cat on the planet.
